Senate Candidate Kendrick Meek Endorsed by United Teachers of Dade

Miami Gardens, Fla. [2/19/09] - U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Miami, was endorsed by United Teachers of Dade on Thursday in his bid for the United States Senate.  UTD is Florida’s largest teachers union.

“I am honored to receive this endorsement from my hometown teachers union,” Meek said.  “As a graduate of Miami-Dade County’s public school system, I know full well how deeply committed teachers are to improving the lives of their students.  Teachers are on the front lines of preparing our young people for the future, and I will continue to fight on behalf of educators in Miami-Dade and throughout Florida who need our support during these troubling economic times.” 

The endorsement was announced by UTD President Karen Aronowitz. 

“Kendrick Meek has been a resourceful and effective advocate for teachers, for our children, and for our public schools,” Aronowitz said. “He has earned our support and our respect.”
